It's crazy how quickly summer has flown by! It feels like we were celebrating the start of summer break, and now we are gearing up for the new school term!
With dorm move-ins starting next month, now is the time to plan and get organized!
Make the Most of July
Family Gatherings: Spend quality time with your family. Plan weekend outings or special dinners. Especially if your child is going to school out of state, take time to say goodbye.
Time with Friends: Encourage your child to enjoy local hangouts, movie nights, or simple get-togethers with their friends.
Send-Off Parties: If you'd rather plan one big event with family and friends, organize a farewell party. Celebrate the big new college adventure with a send-off with those you love!
Dorm Room - Planning Ahead
Create a Checklist: It's easy to forget the little things when rushing to pack because you waited until the last minute. Instead, start making a list of essentials and non-essentials now.
Coordinate with Roommates: If your child knows who their roommate will be, encourage them to connect and plan who's bringing what to save space in the dorm room.
Organize Documents: Some universities require more prep documentation than others; get started early and fill out what you can now so you're not rushing later.
Pack What You Can Now: The items you know your child will bring (backpack, mini fridge, sheets, comforter, extension cords, shower caddy, etc.), pack them now to reduce last-minute stress.
